Aloe BarbadensisAloe Barbadensis leaf juice can soothe skin and serve as an anti-inflammatory. It can be efficiently used topically, because of its burn healing effects, scar reducing and wounds healing properties.
Coco-GlucosideWorks as a surfactant, foaming agent, conditioner and emulsifier. It helps increase the foaming capacity of a solution, and is particularly useful in hair care products, in which it has the ability to smooth out the hair structure and increase manageability.
Sodium Coco-SulfateIt is an anionic surfactant used in many cleaning and hygiene products. The salt is of an organosulfate consisting of a 12-carbon tail attached to a sulfate group, giving the material the amphiphilicproperties required of a detergent. Derived from inexpensive coconut and palm oils, it is a common component of many domestic cleaning products.
Decyl GlucosideDecyl glucoside is a mild non-ionic surfactant used in cosmetic formularies including baby shampoo and in products for individuals with a sensitive skin. Many natural personal care companies use this cleanser because it is plant-derived, biodegradable, and gentle for all hair types.
Glyceryl OleateUsed as emulsifier and nonionic co-surfactant in various skin and hair care products.
SorbitolSorbitol is added to soaps, especially transparent glycerin bar soaps. It has moisturizing qualities and may be found in lotions and moisturizing soaps. The sugar alcohol has been used in cosmetic products for close to a century and is a Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) product by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Citrus AurantifoliaLab research has shown that compounds in citrus fruits such as limes, called limonoids, can help fight lung, breast, stomach and colon, skin, and mouth cancers.
Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel OilAnti-bacterial
Lavandula AngustifoliaHelps prevent hair loss. Lavender is used for restlessness, insomnia, nervousness, and depression.
Calendula Officinalis Flower ExtractCalendula has also been used to promote uterine contractions and it has been used to aid in the delivery of the placenta after childbirth. Additionally calendula is a common ingredient in creams used to soothe sore nipples associated with breastfeeding.
Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower ExtractGerman chamomile is used in herbal medicine for a sore stomach, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a gentle sleep aid.
Chenopodium Quinoa Seed“Quinoa is a good source of protein, fiber, iron, copper, thiamine and vitamin B6,” said Kelly Toups, a registered dietician with the Whole Grains Council. It’s also “an excellent source of magnesium, phosphorus, manganese and folate.” Toups emphasized that a “‘good source’ means that one serving provides at least 10 percent of the daily value of that nutrient, while ‘excellent source’ means that one serving provides at least 20 percent of the daily value of that nutrient.”
Babassu Oil Polyglyceryl-4 EstersThey are used in shampoos and other cleansing formulations to offset the effect of other surfactants.
BisabololIt has also been used for hundreds of years in cosmetics because of its perceived skin healing properties.
InulinInulin is used for high blood fats, including cholesterol and triglycerides. It is also used for weight loss, constipation, and as a food additive to improve taste.
Tocopheryl AcetateIt is used in a variety of cosmetic and personal care products, including lipstick, eye shadow, blushers, face powders and foundations, moisturizers, skin care products, bath soaps and detergents, and hair conditioners.
Citric AcidIt is often used for proper mineral supplementation of food, as an acidity regulator, and as a flavor compound. Citric acid enhances the activity of many beneficial antioxidants, but is not, itself, an antioxidant.
Sodium SulfateIn the laboratory, anhydrous sodium sulfate is widely used as an inert drying agent, for removing traces of water from organic solutions. It is more efficient, but slower-acting, than the similar agent magnesium sulfate. It is only effective below about 30 °C, but it can be used with a variety of materials since it is chemically fairly inert. Sodium sulfate is added to the solution until the crystals no longer clump together; the two video clips (see above) demonstrate how the crystals clump when still wet, but some crystals flow freely once a sample is dry.
AlcoholAlcohol comes in varying types that can be used various areas of our lives; the most common one being in drinks.
Benzyl AlcoholBenzyl alcohol is used as a bacteriostatic preservative at low concentration in intravenous medications, cosmetics and topical drugs.
Potassium SorbatePotassium sorbate’s use as an antimicrobial preservative prevents the growth of mold, bacteria and fungi in cheese, dried meats, baked goods, jellies and syrups.
Sodium BenzoateUsed chiefly as a food preservative and anti-fungal agent, and in diagnostic tests of liver function.
CoumarinIt has a distinctive odor which has led people to use it as a food additive and ingredient in perfume.
LimoneneLimonene is used to promote weight loss, prevent cancer, treat cancer, and treat bronchitis.
LinaloolA naturally occurring terpene alcohol chemical found in many flowers and spice plants with many commercial applications, the majority of which are based on its pleasant scent (floral, with a touch of spiciness).
