Cocamidopropyl BetaineCocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) is an organic compound derived from coconut oil and dimethylaminopropylamine. It is used as a surfactant in personal care products.
Sodium Lauryl SulfoacetateSodium lauryl sulfoacetate is a great alternative to Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. This product is derived from coconut and palm oils, and conforms to Ecocert’s natural and organic cosmetic standard and is 100% of natural origin
Sodium ChlorideUsed for shampoos
Lauryl GlucosideLauryl glucoside is useful in haircare products where it aids hair cleaning abilities.
Aloe BarbadensisAloe Barbadensis leaf juice can soothe skin and serve as an anti-inflammatory. It can be efficiently used topically, because of its burn healing effects, scar reducing and wounds healing properties.
Calendula OfficinalisOne of the best reasons to keep calendula handy is due to its healing abilities. If you apply calendula flower oil to your cuts, scrapes, bruises, and insect bites, you can quickly speed the healing process, partially due to the anti-inflammatory properties of the oil, in addition to the unique antioxidant compounds found in this miraculous plant.
Camellia SinensisCamellia sinensis contains caffeine and it has been used to increase alertness. Green tea has also been used for cancer prevention, to lowercholesterol, and to prevent/delay Parkinson’s disease.
Chamomilla RecutitaChamomilla recutita is also used as a mild laxative and is anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. German chamomile is used in herbal medicine for a sore stomach, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a gentle sleep aid.
Citrus GrandisGrapefruit is a source of vitamin C, fiber, potassium, pectin, and other nutrients. Some components might have antioxidant effects that might help protect cells from damage or reduce cholesterol.
Equisetum ArvenseThe chemicals in horsetail may have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Plants related to horsetail contain chemicals that work like “water pills” (diuretics) and increase urine output. But it isn’t clear whether horsetail has this effect.
Hydrolyzed Sweet Almond SeedcakeHydrolyzed sweet almond seedcake is a healthy bar whose main ingredient is almond.
Lavandula AngustifoliaHelps prevent hair loss. Lavender is used for restlessness, insomnia, nervousness, and depression.
Yeast ExtractNutritional yeast is the deactivated form of the species S. cerevisiae. It is sometimes referred to as the “vegetarian’s protein” because it is a rich source of complete protein, containing 18 amino acids, according to “Contemporary Nutrition.” Up to 55 percent of nutritional yeast extract is composed of protein or amino acids, which are needed by your body to build muscle, connective tissue and enzymes. Protein can also be metabolized within cells for energy. If you are a vegetarian or on a low-cholesterol diet, yeast extract is a good substitute for meat, dairy products or nuts, which are also protein-rich but high in fats.
Ascorbic AcidAscorbic acid known as Vitamin C is used to prevent or treat low levels of vitamin C in people who do not get enough of the vitamin from their diets.
Babassu Oil Polyglyceryl-4 EstersThey are used in shampoos and other cleansing formulations to offset the effect of other surfactants.
Citric AcidCitric Acid helps preserve cosmetics and personal care products. Citric Acid and its salts are also added to cosmetics to help adjust the acid/base balance.
GlycerinGlycerin is what is called a humectant. Glycerin helps maintain the skin’s water balance on an intercellular level. Glycerin in lotions or other skin care products can help prevent or combat dry skin.
Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium ChlorideGuar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride is a water-soluble derivative of natural guar gum, and delivers conditioning properties to shampoos and after-shampoo hair care products.
Hydrolyzed Wheat ProteinHair care products on the other hand also improve their quality with hydrolyzed wheat protein as an ingredient.
Linoleic AcidConjugated linoleic acid is used for cancer, “hardening of the arteries” (atherosclerosis), obesity, weight loss caused by chronic disease, bodybuilding, and limiting food allergy reactions
Linolenic AcidAlpha-linolenic acid is popular for preventing and treating diseases of the heart and blood vessels. It is used to prevent heart attacks, lower high blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and reverse “hardening of the blood vessels” (atherosclerosis). There is some evidence that alpha-linolenic acid from dietary sources might be effective for all these uses except lowering cholesterol. Not enough is known yet to be able to rate alpha-linolenic acid’s effect on high cholesterol.
PanthenolPanthenol is a form of Vitamin B5(Pantothenic Acid), used as a moisturizer and lubricating compound.
Retinyl PalmitateRetinyl palmitate is a synthetic alternate for retinyl acetate in vitamin A supplements, and is available in oily or dry forms.
Sodium Coco-sulfateIt is an anionic surfactant used in many cleaning and hygiene products.
Sodium Laurylglucosides HydroxypropylsulfonateLauryl glucoside is an non-ionic surfactant that can be used as a foaming agent, conditioner or emulsifier. Lauryl glucoside has excellent foaming capacity and good dermatological compatibility. Therefore it is suitable for use as a base surfactant or a co-surfactant in cosmetic surfactant cleansing preparations.
Sodium SulfateIn the laboratory, anhydrous sodium sulfate is widely used as an inert drying agent, for removing traces of water from organic solutions. It is more efficient, but slower-acting, than the similar agent magnesium sulfate. It is only effective below about 30 °C, but it can be used with a variety of materials since it is chemically fairly inert. Sodium sulfate is added to the solution until the crystals no longer clump together; the two video clips (see above) demonstrate how the crystals clump when still wet, but some crystals flow freely once a sample is dry.
TocopherolVitamin E is an essential vitamin for the human body. Out of the eight tocopherols, alpha-tocopherols are the most commonly available and are also preferentially absorbed and used by the body.
AlcoholAlcohol comes in varying types that can be used various areas of our lives; the most common one being in drinks.
Benzoic AcidIt improves the rate of replication of immune cells called macrophages
Benzyl AlcoholBenzyl alcohol is used as a bacteriostatic preservative at low concentration in intravenous medications, cosmetics and topical drugs.
Dehydroacetic AcidIt works by killing off and preventing the growth of microorganisms that contribute to a product’s decay.
Potassium SorbatePotassium sorbate’s use as an antimicrobial preservative prevents the growth of mold, bacteria and fungi in cheese, dried meats, baked goods, jellies and syrups.
Sodium BenzoateUsed chiefly as a food preservative and anti-fungal agent, and in diagnostic tests of liver function.
Benzyl BenzoateBenzyl benzoate is the organic compound with the formula C6H5CH2O2CC6H5. It is the ester of benzyl alcohol and benzoic acid.
Butylphenyl MethylpropionalButylphenyl Methylpropional is used in aftershave lotions, bath products, bubble baths, cleansing products, hair care products, moisturizers, perfumes and colognes, shampoos and skin care products.
CitralGeranial has a strong lemon odor. Neral’s lemon odor is less intense, but sweeter. Citral is therefore an aroma compound used in perfumery for its citrus effect. Citral is also used as a flavor and for fortifying lemon oil.
EugenolPolyphenol is able to improve lipid profiles and prevent oxidation of cholesterol thereby reducing the risk of heart attack and atherosclerosis.
HydroxycitronellalHydroxycitronellal is a perfume ingredient with a medium strength floral scent, reminiscent of lily and sweet tropical melon.
LimoneneLimonene is used to promote weight loss, prevent cancer, treat cancer, and treat bronchitis.
